Batch Plant Banned Both in China and India

Why has the Chinese government explicitly banned batch style pyrolysis plant?

Firstly,industrial policy supports from government.

In 2012,The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology promulgated the conditions for access to the tire refurbishment industry and the conditions for access to the comprehensive utilization industry of waste tires,it said: Enterprise should realize the production automatic and continuous production including shredding to pyrolysis and discharge. Until today, more than 95% pyrolysis enterprise who used batch plants are and going to be forced to close.

In 2019,India government has just promulgated same policy in the country. The CPCB suggested a series of  “remedial measures” in its status report including only allowing continuous tyre pyrolysis, installing packed bed scrubber for control of gaseous emission and reduction of odour and following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the central government’s environment ministry.

Secondly, batch plant lacks of safety, environmental conservation and efficiency

1. No security.Batch style plant needs to feed all material inside of the reactor before heating (pyrolysis). It will generate a very large quantity of gas in a short time. And most of batch designed with open door which might cause explosion accident once worker operated carefully.

2. It is not health and environmental friendly. With batch style plant it needs to open the reactor door when discharge,so there is a large amount of harmful smoke and dust which will cause considerable damage to front-line workers and the surrounding environment.

3. Lack of efficiency.Batch (semi-continuous) style plant, it needs a whole process of heating and cooling before next batch. It takes much time for each batch, consumes a lot of manpower and low efficiency, which is not conducive to production, especially for semi-continuous,efficiency even worse.

The Last  service life of the plant

For batch (semi-continuous) plant,char/carbon is easy to coke or stick on inner wall of the reactor because frequent heating and cooling process.Every cleaning will cause damage to the reactor which  will shorten the service life of plant badly.
